Educating people about their world and their parks is officially now a "waste."

People can "educate" themselves to their hearts' content via the public library and the internet.
Here's what programs like fee demo gets you: An enforcement officer making $40k, sitting in a $40,000 truck writing tickets.
you really think we need more Miles Standish CRSP characters?

I'm with Philo, we should all support regressive tax policies that sh#t on the poor so that the rich get a free ride.
Why shouldn't a person driving a $130,000 Bentley pay exactly the same as a single mother of 3 working 2 jobs to keep a barely running $300 Toyota running? Go 21! Right on Philo, screw the poor! That bitch and her spoiled brats can walk, f*#k her. Teach them there's no free ride and that a fair and progressive income tax is for idiots! The sooner the brats learn that life isn't fair the better off they'll be braced for the future. Sh#t on them now I say! Tell that whiny bitch to shut the F* up and pay or we'll take her car away. See can go live in the park if she don't like it. Right on Philo! Woot!
Let's get some more of this happening too. How about $50 per car for pothole repair, $35 for new curbs, $40 to help pay for parking enforcement, $60 to preserve some oceanfront sand, increase the registration fees, and lets get the total up a few hundred plus dollars and get the poor out of those damn cars and walking like God intended. We'll help reduce smog and traffic as well once the poor and these whiners start walking again. Right on Philo!

They waste shitloads of money. And then try to hold the public hostage with "we'll close them down". How about less staff, less new vehicles, less $3000 "interpretive signs" and then we'll start talking about fees.
You're right. Let's close down the parks because the state wastes money.
Maybe we should close down the state too. Highways, airports, harbors, bridges, etc., that'll stop all that waste.

Elcap said People can "educate" themselves to their hearts' content via the public library and the internet.
So you want working class families who may know nothing about nature, botany or ecology to self-educate with the internet connection that they may or may not have on the computer that they may or may not have and then pay the $200 entrance fee to the park (because user fees are a lot higher if they aren't spread out amongst the 55 million Californians who actually own the property) that probably no longer exists because nobody could afford to go there.
You know, libraries are paid for with taxes instead of user fees too. Why do I have to pay for that? I literally NEVER go to the library. I'm going to assume that everyone else has the resources that I have, lives the way I do and has my education level and demand that we repeal those taxes!! I could probably save literally TENS of dollars every year!!!

Highways, airports, harbors, bridges,
I forgot about those for these new regressive tax policies you are advocating, add them on to the bill lads! Woot! Right on!
Highways: $100 per vehicle
airports: $60 per vehicle
harbors $ $40 per vehicle
bridges $ $120 per vehicle
Screw that bitch and her poor raggedy assed filthy ilk! We need to pay for bridges and the Bentley dude and all the trust funders want her to pay the same as him. And why shouldn't she pay the exact same amount as John Paul Getty Jr? ?

Couch they all pay the same to go to a movie. They all pay the same for a gallon of gas.
Or are you suggesting the rich pay a bigger share? $4 a gal for po folk and $25 a gal for the Ritchie Riches. Sounds good to me.

Or are you suggesting the rich pay a bigger share? $4 a gal for po folk and $25 a gal for the Ritchie Riches. Sounds good to me. Movies are voluntary and paid for by those who go. Nice comparison....NOT! Maybe we should slap a tax onto bicycles to help subsidize movie theaters. There's a better comparison.
What do you think of a graduated income tax idea...you know anything about that? Hey, I'm in the upper income bracket and fart dollar bills these days, let the poor continue to get screwed, I'm with you buddy. We need parks: and the poor, even if they can't afford to go to them, or go see movies, should get the shaft on this. God forbid we make it fair and let those who make Millions in income pay a tad more via income taxes and through the general fund. Stick it right to the poor early and hard so they know that life is damn unfair.
Right on. Let the whiny bitches walk. We'll tax the sidewalks to pay for the parks and stick it to them there next. George Bush worked hard to create a fundamental shift in wealth so that the rich could get richer and the poor can go piss up a rope, glad to see you and others finally got on board Philo!

No "buddy" you are not.
What about the gas? Don't you get gas?
The single mom of three would likely pay the $18 without complaint and appreciate the opportunity to take her kids out in the woods without having to cough up entrance fees.
Where as you-self proclaimed upper cruster- are the one whining about the $18.

Lets shaft the poor so they can wish and hope for change. But they ain't gonna get it. Screw em. Until someone can answer this question in bold, please vote FOR it.

Doesn't matter, on this thread alone I can see you are surely and clearly a person, most likely a republican, who want's to continue to support the rich at the expense of the less fortunate, the lazy and the less motivated. Right on bro! Again, lets make this a mandatory thing everyone has to pay even if they have no money. Hey, if they want fair, let them more to a more supportive country...

Dudie dude dood, you would be more accurate to call the Pope a Jew than me a Republican.
I guess you have never read a thing I have posted for over 5 years until you misinterpreted this recent post. Get informed.

I'm only going by your support here.....maybe you are the Pope or Jewish, or a Jewish Pope - I can't tell from this thread.
Right on! Keep on keeping on bra! Without parks our civilization and reason for existence will crumble. Why shouldn't a person driving a $130,000 Bentley pay exactly the same as a single mother of 3 working 2 jobs to keep a barely running $300 Toyota running?

Collective benefit for the common good.
The Bentley Driver is probably less likely to squander their precious time in the dirt of a State park.
Where as the single mom may very well have State parks as her only vacation option. She benefits and the Bentley man doesn't feel a thing. But if you try to tell the rich guy he has to pay $25 while the poor have to only pay $5 guess what ballot issue stands a snow ball's chance in hell of passing.
I know, you could call me a newbie gym climber. That'll really steam my beans.
