Ya' gotta' realize that I'M an expatriate Coloradan, too! I cut my climbing teeth in Eldorado Canyon in the 1960's.

Mighty Hiker - you need to get your plane ticket now - Brokedownclimber promises to regale us with these climbing stories at the HH. :)
edit: Yeah, now that I think about it, you haven't come to see us in Colorado!

Sorry, I can't make it - I'll be helping at the Facelift (well, I like to think of it as helping) until the 26th, then staying on in the Valley until the 2nd or so. But sometime, if only because I need to talk with some people in the Denver/Boulder area about the Squamish history project, notably Steve S. and Grug.

You guys are making me jealous! I used to climb and drink with Brokedown when we were both young students in Boulder. We climbed in Eldorado and hung out at the Sink in those days.
Can you imagine that there used to be only a couple of parties at a time climbing in Eldorado on beautiful spring days?

Crimpie, and all.
Here's some evidence of what Jan and Brokedown looked like in 1965 at the base of Monday Morning Slab, in Yosemite.
Jan-Did we really look that young?

If you enlarge that photo, you can see the Goldline rope on the ground, too! We were with Roger Dalke on that trip; he took the photo with my Hasselblad.
Edit: Upon close examination, that was my 11mm x 40 meter Edelrid Perlon Kernmantel rope; the first one ever sold in Boulder. I never owned a Goldline. and thought that was Dalke's rope. Not!

I'm in! I'm in! Will be there with fresh tales from the SushiFest in IC and probably some sunburn. And maybe a hangover. Please keep me informed if it's at OCs or at the Bustop. Pizza's better at OC's by the way...
