Any pics of the adventure or the boulder? Sitting here, 400 miles south, I need something to live vicariously through...

Lynnie-
As someone who knew you BITD I continue to be amazed at your journey as an indivisual of character and strength. I understand the elation of the moment and its transformation that will stay with you.
It was always inside of you you just had to let it out. Now don't go hurtin' yourself......

I have about
one...even with pads...
My landing gear is all fouled up, incipient knee issues since I was young and a busted ankle this year. It's fun to go out with the kids but I've gotten to the point that I don't like to spot highballs anymore, have seen too many bad diggers and taken a few...
Still, good on ya LL.

memo to Lynnie: Buy a good bouldering pad and always use it. Have a spotter at all high-ball times. Any chance of hitting your head--wear a helmet, or have someone spot your head in particular.
Bouldering can be lots of fun and very rewarding, but also capable of rendering you to my status: "Brokedownclimber."

Back in Lee Vining, getting ready for a bike ride. Thanks for all the comments and concerns, Guys. Some of Yo know me and understand why I posted this Thread.
Don't be hard on Marv. He has a different perspective. I'ts allowed on this forum. All of us have to be careful of becoming self absorbed. It's an every human weakness.
G. Davis kinda hit it on the head. Being outdoors, really outdoors, can present a person on any given day with challenge and/or danger. With my almost complete lack of a good sense of direction.....hiking into the wilderness alone could be deadly for me until I learn more.
I guess we all need to measure the personal challenge, see if it's worth it, and then go for it or not.
No pics because I wanted my spotter fully engaged. :D I did take a pic of the rock afterward as a sweet memory.
Edit: Elcapinyoazz......guess you might call mine a lo ball :D

Hey Lynne, psyched for you. Had a similiar 1st highball experience in Tahoe recently. So fun I did it 2 more times. But in the back of the head, "what if a hold breaks..." Fun and scarey, eh?

+1 for the tales of caution. Bouldering claims a lot of ankles, and ankles rarely come back 100%. There are some sad stories among my friends of never being able to run again - ever. Plenty of hard and rewarding boulders with safe falls. Bring lots of spotters, lots of pads. High balls are for those out there several days a week all year long who are also a little nutty. Good luck.
