Regarding all the injured; this administration is cutting veterans benefits. This administration, our government, is going to abandon these solders to a lifetime of pain and financial ruin. As a liberal I abhor this. You never leave someone behind. That is not our way. But it is this administration's way. For that, they go to hell.
2000 American dead. And thousands of Iraq. All because Rove wanted to win the midterm elections. Jail first.

The problem is OBL, Iranian Mullahs and Saudi clerics have declared war on you.
fattrad, you've never answered this question: If the above is true, why did we hand Iraq over to those Iranian mullahs?!?!?!?!? Why did we destroy one of two secular states in Arabia?!?!?!?!?

"Give me the info on that one, is there a rumor or truth? Now if you meant Jesse Jackson, well then the question becomes how many. "
It was a push poll done in South Carolina (and perhaps other southern states) in 2000 orchestrated by the Bushies. "If McCain had fathered an illegitimate black child would you be more likely or less likely to vote for him?"
I'm sure you are familiar with his Bangladeshi daughter, Bridget (which I think is is bengali for "daughter of one who angers extremists) who was seen on the campaign trail with McCain on occaision. I'm pretty sure the Rove family creed is "Why fight fair when you can win?"

I don't care in the least about the WMD. The fact that SH was one of the cruelest sociopaths in recent history who was responsible for the deaths of untold tens of thousands is sufficient for me. He should have been knocked off at the end of the Gulf War when he violated the terms of the ceasefire.
I'm no fan of Bush 11; however, we're giving those people an opportunity to get their house in order. It remains to be seen if they will. Our handling of the aftermath of the war has been very poor due to the lack of adequate numbers of troops on the ground. As an independent, though, and a person that keeps careful track of politics in this country through right and left blogs, magazines right and left, three newspapers etc., it's clear to me that the far left wants desperately for us to fail in the Middle East. Their antipathy for the fundamental structure of the U.S.-- Capitalism, our superpower status and our tendency to act independently when we feel it in our best interest--is anathema to their Marxist sympathies.

"The reason for Iraq is we don't want "secular" oil crazed dictators"
Who made them oil-crazed again? I'm pretty sure that is our money they are swimming in. Last time I checked if you didn't like Walmart you stopped shopping there, you didn't bomb it. But I'm a liberal wuss so what do I know about 'strong leadership.' I guess maybe I should start taping pipe-bombs together. This first Walmart is for you Fatty! Death to the Caliphate-or-whatever-anti-muslim-buzzword-of-the-moment-is!

An uber-insider source has just reported the following to The Washington Note:
1. 1-5 indictments are being issued. The source feels that it will be towards the higher end.
2. The targets of indictment have already received their letters.
3. The indictments will be sealed indictments and "filed" tomorrow.
4. A press conference is being scheduled for Thursday.

This is SO Exciting!!!!!! How am I gonna get any sleep tonight? Cheney? Do I smell a Cheney indictment? "Wouldn't that be somethin'" But can't get your hopes up. This is such fun. The most fun I've had in 5 years - almost 6 - actually since Watergate!

"We tried that in 1974, it worked for a few years and then everyone went back to 300 HP, 4WD and jumbo SUV's. "
We TRIED not killing people, but it was harrrrrd. Not killing people is so harrrrd. Again, Fatty...it is clear you would rather have our young people kill other people so that you don't have to change. Why do you reach for whatever justification you can to maintain this statis quo? Why are you so desperate to justify this lifestyle when you know that it is not the whole truth or the best course of action? Its easier to just decide that 'they hate freedom' cause they are 'crazy' than to simply stop using gasoline. Over 100,000 Iraqis dead, nearly 50,000 injured Americans, 2,000 dead. Can you really just shrug and step on the gas?

Tell me you really sold your car to save those lives,
Typical conservative response. :-)
Everything in this world is black or white, huh?
Believe it or not, an awful lot of problems in this world (at least the ones I've encountered) can be solved by some degree of m o d e r a t i o n . I know it's a bad word to you guys, but you really should give it a try.
As a demonstration, instead of driving to the valley alone in a vehicle that gets 12 mpg, he can do so in a vehicle that gets a modest 25 mpg and share the ride with a few friends. Viola. They're using 1/3 - 1/6 the gas they would have if they'd each driven alone in their own hummers. Sure, it doesn't have the same absolute benefit (i.e. using no gas at all) but it does have a relatively significant benefit and it's far more realistic than abandoning use of the car altogether.

Last time I checked, sacrificing a comfort and convenience instead of killing hundreds of thousands of people wasn't tree-hugging. You prefer to trade options and drive your suburban around, trying to convince people that the boogeyman is out to get them when you know full well that its just a story.
You can dismiss my concerns whatever way you wish, but while you go meet with people who know people and try convince yourself that you are important, there are people who are dying so you can tool your large butt around in a large vehicle.
Take some responsibility...I've heard conservatives are big on that.

Fat,
Have you missed the optional two cylinders?
I drive a 4 cylinder Camry wagon. I haven't missed the optional 2 for my car.
It's all about how we see ourselves. Change the way I see myself and I might be able to drive a 2 cylinder.
My next car will be a hybrid! Come on Toyota, bring out squareback Prius.
Best, Kim

Trimming down from an 8 saved you maybe 5 MPG. Real change will come from what you claimed 'we tried back in '73.' When JFK announced plans to reach the moon by the end of the decade we had something like 10-20% of the technologies necessary to make that happen. Somehow I think the $200 billion we have spent on Iraq would have gone a long way to simply removing us from this gross entanglement. We would be able to offer Israel much more protection and more rational guidance to the world at large if we weren't so heavily invested on getting what they've got buried in their sand.

but WTC '92. USS Cole, Kenya, and 9/11 has convinced many americans that large block of the Muslim world would like nothing more than to eliminate us.
? and why is it again they want to eliminate us?
could it be the undying devotion to Israel? the us needs to quit protecting israel.
btw fattrad, do you seriously think terrorists would sneak a nuke into this country?

"but WTC '92. USS Cole, Kenya, and 9/11 has convinced many americans that large block of the Muslim world would like nothing more than to eliminate us."
I can't quite believe that I'm having to go over this sgain, but here it is for fattrad and some others:
Iraq had nothing to do with the world trade center bombing.
Iraq had nothing to with the USS cole.
Iraq had nothing to with the Kenyan ambassy bombing.
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
Is this really really complicated in some way I don't understand?

Here is how it is going to go down-
I have been watching the show with the woman I am taking care of right now.
She is 89 yr. old, and she will be gone within a couple of months.
Here's is what she thinks-
Dick Cheney will take responsibility for Libbys slip and resign.
Condi Rice will be appointed Vice-President. Which will make her the lead runner in 2008.
This will keep the neo-cons in charge.
I thought it was an interesting thought from a nice lady who has seen a lot of history.
Any thoughts?

DPatrick-
That's it. I have only been on ST for a couple of weeks, but I know by now free thought usually brings on a barrage of verbal abuse & name-calling.
You didn't call me gay or a retard, or something like that.
For once, a decent comeback to a random thought.
Refreshing.
Thank-Q!
