it doesn't matter what the citizens of California, New York and Illinois think about the electoral college. Think ill of it, think joy; doesn't matter one whit.
It requires a constitutional edit and 3/4 of the state legislatures or 3/4 of the state constitutional convention approvals.
Unless its just a thinking exercise. If so, bravo, California, New York, Illinois; bravo.
Something to think about: The GOP currently holds control of 32 states, with 5 split. 3/4 is 37.5. So we are in a situation where they are very close to being able to call a Constitutional Convention, and passing what they'd like.

I was speaking to a friend a short while ago, who told me that the GOP is planning a process whereby the Congress places limits on what the Supreme Court can decided, and what cases the Court can use in making decisions. Craziest thing I've heard.
Then I looked it up:
Article III
Section 2
2: In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

Good point.
How's this for an idea:
Hold a Constitutional Convention, pass all the right wing stuff you want, and as a coup de grace, make is so the Constitution can only be further amended by something like unanimous consent, so the changes can effectively never be undone!

Hard to say how crazy that is.
We're used to a situation where the Supreme Court can do whatever it wants and to a large extent sits above the other two branches of government, because that's the way the Supreme Court has set things up and the other two branches haven't really resisted.
It's not at all obvious that the current state of affairs is what the founders intended, or is required by any reasonable "plain meaning" interpretation of the Constitution, or is a great way to do things.

Declassified report says Putin ‘ordered’ effort to undermine faith in U.S. election
Russia carried out a comprehensive cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential election, an operation ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin that “aspired to help” elect Donald Trump by discrediting his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, U.S. intelligence agencies concluded in a report released today. The report depicts Russian interference as unprecedented in scale.

Clinton was widely rejected
She got more votes than Trump. Trump was more widely rejected in this election than Clinton was.

MB1 is going to have a major melt down.
"But Clinton and her minions are arrogant turds. And all her tens of millions spent couldn't convince America otherwise."
She and her arrogant turds convinced the majority of voters in the election.

Not how it works in our system.
Not that that matters to the libs here.
As I said, you'd get more of what you want under Condorcet's method. We all would. And then the "popular vote" would matter MORE like you want it to.
Of course, under that method, it's likely that the parties would just go away or be rendered largely irrelevant.
And then what would you partisan-lefties DO with yourselves? Oh, the humanity!

"Partisan Lefties" just seems a little ironic when the strategy for working "with" Obama in the White House was to reject every move he made. This bizarre division was never so evident until the boxers got in a bunch over a black man in the white house(lower case intended).
And one more time.... it's NOT that the GOP has taken the presidency and has such a majority; it's that the front man is a snake oil salesman and madman. And anyone who thinks he's NOT a madman must not have seen his Twitter. I think he FINALLY made a non-drama filled, words of someone with some decency tweet only today with the Tweet about the airport shootings. And I have to wonder if someone didn't stick their finger on the submit button before he added the last sentence saying how he would solve this problem too, and then grabbed his phone and threw it into oncoming traffic.

MB doesn't believe that. He believes in pumping himself up by forcing reactions by crude and ridiculous assertions. He's a troll.
React to him, and you'll get more of him.
I am now perplexed by PE Trump. He rejects the information and conclusions of the American intelligence community which (unanimously) ID's Putin as interfering in our election.
This does not suggest that Trump did not win. He did. That's over.
However, this is an attack on our Constitution and gov't. Really no difference than an airplane hitting a building. He doubts the cockpit conversation in Russian. He doubts the Russian signage on the plane. He doubts the threats called in beforehand. He doubts the deep mole in the Kremlin, who confirmed the order.
Where does this leave us? Are we safer now? Will he believe threats picked up by Homeland Security? FEMA? NWS? FBI? NYC Antiterrorism Squad?

Look at what Obama was handed: 2 unwinnable wars (courtesy of that fuknut Dubya), a financial disaster, and a GOP that was determined to block every move he made because of the color of his skin. He did pretty damn well, all things considered. So, fuk Donald Drumpf, his billionaire cabinet, his stupid fukin wall, and his unforgivable ignorance. Not my president. I hope he faces as much opposition as Obama faced, and then some.

What Trump buyers bought was Trump promising that Mexico will pay for the wall. Now Congress is appropriating our tax dollars to pay for it, while Trump is promising that Mexico is going to pay us back.
Really! The check's in the mail! Really! I promise.
I expect the braintrust believes he used his authority as president-elect to negotiate a deal for Mexico to pay us back. Because when the Mexican president said that they didn't discuss the wall .. well, you know, rapists and liars.
Trump doesn't believe in the truth - he believes in negotiating positions. If we're left paying for his bankruptcies, after believing the bankrupt lies of his negotiating positions, he sees that as a win. Grab em by the pu$$y!

No, I'm no troll. I'm genuinely impassioned.
I HATE the left, because it's been a relentless downhill slide toward THIS sort of INSANITY:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2016/05/17/you-can-be-fined-for-not-calling-people-ze-or-hir-if-thats-the-pronoun-they-demand-that-you-use/?utm_term=.dcaba3b99893
Look, you can invade my life in all sorts of ways, as you already do. But I draw the line at telling me what I can THINK and what I MUST SAY!
At least under a Trump SCOTUS, THIS stupidity is gonna go down. No way this withstands the first SCOTUS challenge, which is as it SHOULD be. Under an insane, left-wing, liberal court, the challenge gets a response of: "Just as falsely yelling 'fire' in a crowded theater is not 'protected speech,' saying something to ANYBODY that they find offensive is not 'protected speech.'"
And then ALL is lost!
Most of you guys don't even see the slippery slope you'd have us all on.

MB1, I'm a gun-toting liberal who believes in abortion, gay rights, and legalization of drugs. I voted for Clinton because I know drumpf is an out of touch piece of sh#t. My vote was against drumpf, not for clinton. The majority of democratic voters didn't turn out for this election because they thought clinton had it in the bag. Shame on them. I think drumpf is a stain on this country, a poor representation of what this country is. I thought the same thing when that dumbfuk Dubya was elected and his strings pulled by Cheyney on Iraq and Afghanistan. I voted for Obama twice. I would have voted for him a third time.
