Spillway gates open at Don Pedro Reservoir on the Tuolumne, 2017.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7D-z4132YE
The lake's level had gone crazy that year, ending the drought. It was still practically brimful in August. Hordes of campers were on the lakeshore camping in campers, and I can't see how people think this is relaxing, but at least it's different from the grind of daily plebeian problems and purple ecstasy.

Moses, old school immigrant.
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2019/04/david-frum-how-much-immigration-is-too-much/583252/
The question before the United States and other advanced countries is not: Immigration, yes or no? In a mobile world, there will inevitably be quite a lot of movement of people. Immigration is not all or nothing. The questions to ask are: How much? What kind?
Too little immigration, and you freeze your country out of the modern world. Too much, or the wrong kind, and you overstress your social-insurance system—and possibly upend your democracy. Choose well, and you build a stronger, richer country for both newcomers and the long-settled. Choose badly, and you aggravate inequality and inflame intergroup hostility. How we choose will shape the future that will in its turn shape us.
DAVID FRUM is a staff writer at The Atlantic and the author of Trumpocracy: The Corruption of the American Republic. In 2001 and 2002, he was a speechwriter for President George W. Bush.

In a Whillians Sit harness ?
Hey Doc?
Any Pictures Of Us?
It was a balmy summer
when she & I eloped
The One That Got Away
I locked in when I could have lucked out
Her friend was so into me she threw herself
And then fell off a road bike
I was in love she may have been too
We dissed my landlady sleeping past the property line
What a climbing team we made
we wore the same size shorts
but hers were more
So much more
She was a find
a keeper, finest at the cliff that summer
& I was hers to break
I moved out I had to
I had to, to carry on,
Landing on pop bottles
in the hallway basement
Of the man-eating Phlabotus
I pass out giving blood
She made me just as dizzy
So soon I moved again
that was twice in the year
This time to the grand house
with a view
Then she was gone
She lost my guide book I lost it
Still, we climbed the hill
And we climbed the pinnacle
a secret rout still
A line that climbers would line up for
If they knew of its existence
Away from the crowded zone
In the most crowded climbing area,
the east coast has to offer

It seems Patti wrote this song...did not know that.

Timid, I like to listen to GOOD music, will listen to most anything, and try to at least click on the offered tunes here.
It's sorta genre-fied musically on ST, what with Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz, Girl Bands, Fahey, and so on.
I prefer the eclecticism here and the abandon with which posts are left here for our delectation and edification.
So good of you cats, kitties, and coddiwobblers.
Zappa should make for a "balanced meal," que no?

Vern and I will be driving up to Mariposa on Friday to visit with the folks at the Mariposa History Center for the YCA presentation by BooDawg.
I'm watchin' and I'm waitin'.
He's not heavy. He's my bro.
That's some of that "low yo-yo stuff" Capt. B was singin' 'bout, Gnarmo.
Mathis' mustache was ridden hard and put up wet many a night, scraggly though it is. His hair was past his butt when he cut it at last.
