This evening's selection is actually a Canadian wine {shudder!} yet I have to admit it's pretty damn good. It's a 2010 Mission Hill Estate Chard, lightly oaked and with a superb buttery finish. I overchilled it a bit on the snow outside, it needs to warm up a bit more. However I can't resist sipping...
Since the wine is from the Okanogan Valley in B.C., I think we should all hoist our glasses tonight to Big Mike and his recovery.

monthly (or so) wine dinner. Tonight's dinner is food and wine d'Alsace,
where the wife went to university. Woo Hoo, choucroute! Phillipe always
brings it hard with the wine, too. He is from Massilia but that won't
stop him tonight. What, haven't heard of Massilia? It is the Roman name
of Marseille, his hometown.

I caught the d'Alsace, and wondered, "what the heck you California boys doin' drinkin' that apple-layshun con-trol-lay stuff?"
I am knott a big fan of the French style blends, which you Californians cunningly call a meritage. Without looking it up, do you know the derivation of the word?

3) Why I'm not climbing sitting in front of my computer.......well just got done a MTB badass red rock super badass, badass trail in Sexona . Need to rest up, gonna get a VERY coveted Sedona summit tomorrow! Till then I have to stay sober...enough ....to get that mission accomolished.
