Declassified documents reveal that the CIA had plotted to assassinate Lumumba. These documents indicate that the Congolese leaders who killed Lumumba, including Mobutu Sese Seko and Joseph Kasa-Vubu, received money and weapons directly from the CIA.[63][74] This same disclosure showed that at that time the U.S. government believed that Lumumba was a communist and feared him because of the Cold War.[75]
In 2000 a newly declassified interview with Robert Johnson, who was the minutekeeper of the U.S. National Security Council at the time in question, revealed that U.S. President Eisenhower had said "something [to CIA chief Allen Dulles] to the effect that Lumumba should be eliminated."[73] The interview from the Senate Intelligence Committee's inquiry on covert action was released in August 2000.[76]
In December 2013, the U.S. State Department admitted that President Eisenhower authorized the murder of Lumumba.[77] CIA Chief Allan Dulles had allocated $100,000 to accomplish the act, but the plan was not carried out.[78]

Was Dag Hammarskjold's death (September of 1961) an assassination?
Is there a tie-in?
I hear Lickey's writing a book on it.

My left knee is shot. I can't hardly walk. Swelled a lot yesterday after walking four blocks.
Serious trouble ahead, I can tell. I'm going to need an MRI to find the problem, likely.
Can't ride bike, can't walk far without walker's aid, and can sleep only in snatches.
I have a scheduled appt. in Fresno on the 5th and one here with my doc, Doc Love, on the next day.
Meanwhile, limping along trying not to exacerbate the problem and mitigate the pain.
I feel like I could carry fifty pounds up the Bugaboo Trail for sure!!
Have fun up there, Susan and Michael!

New Territory
Over the next rise
Across yonder river
Down this yellow brick road
Through this mirkwood
Into the endless steppes
Up the Khali Bandaloop
Amid the towering bluewoods
Wandering the Cottage Cheese country
Around the tree and back into the hole
Trailing the thread of my life behind me
Until death parts me from this plane
And places me on a new path
All without a topo or a map, dude!

I used to be able to play this one on my Coronet.
Did I tell ya about the time I ran into Miles Davis at the Hollywood YMCA and challenged him to a playoff in front of that dog in Guadalajara? Some kinda immigration policy foiled that one, but I'm guessing Miles would have taken me down.

Well, I did just post those two of the Last Waltz recently, along with the interview with Dave Furano of Winterland.
I din't "just" post the two vids, but they are many pages back, as it turns out.
We're moving fast here.
Many hands make light work and more fun.
Thank you, all posters, handbills, and circulars, broadsheets, bulletins, and telegrams.

On that knee, in the meantime, heavy ice and hydrocodone should work until the MRI.
You can obtain hydrocodone without acetaminophen, which is what I would go for. I try to avoid acetaminophen if at all possible since I am known to consume alcohol.
I am also now a firm believer in trigger point therapy, which worked wonders for me during my recent shoulder episode. I concentrated on supraspinatus and trapezoid trigger areas.
And ... it worked.
There are lots of hits around the knee.

I was thinking more along the lines of this type of therapy.
