Tami: "Andy Burnham! Ex-pat Brit we used to say "Andy Burnham Glows In the Dark " 'cos he worked at TRIUMF - the tri-universities meson facility - the partical accelerator located on the UBC campus west of Vancouver.
Andy died in a fall on Meatgrinder ( IIRC)"

Yeah, Andy worked at UBC for years, anything to keep from going back to England. But he didn't die on Meatgrinder. He'd done Red Zinger and then set up a tr on a nearby 5.12 and slipped while climbing back down to the ledge.

1988? '89? I never read the ANAM.

Most mountain hardware has improved over the years, but I'll still retain my prejudice in favor of 1950's vintage wheels. Photo at: http://bswifter.net/gallery/climbing/CLgallery1Yos.html#img/sortout4.jpg

You all probably know this already: Swifter = Bob Swift. I have some of his photos on the YCA site and they are the definition of classic.

P.S.
Here is another classic parking lot photo. Guess who?

I thought for sure she was talking about Cilley.
(She probably just forgot exactly who was holding the tuna can)

I mean really, of all the "ambassadors" whom Lois might have run into in the Valley, back in the day!!!
That is just too perfect (and it is a tuna can that Watusi is holding).

But Lois "crossing swords" with Dr. Cilley,
hahahahahahahahaha.

Lynne's photo up thread; that is Tuolumne store parking lot, not the Needles of California.

Here's another:

I think for the sake of posterity, we should assume it was Cilley. Mike could have been there too. We could make a whole legend out of this...

Here he is with Wendy, but I think he's looking at Lois.

This might be in the Peralta trailhead parking lot, so it's on topic.
