hey there lynne... oh my... my heart is sad for you right now... :( --after seeing your post, at one of werner's neat-old story-post, where you mentioned that it's been 16 months, since dan's been gone... (hope i got that part right)...
SAY ALL.... DOES anyone have any neat ol' stories about her beloved dan?
if so, please, could you post some... lynne sounded in need of then, and near-abouts was asking for some... :(
*i know, you're doing okay, lynne---but to see stories of a loved one, is a treasure, to be savored... :) :) :)

I got some Dan the Man stories, there are many scattered throughout supertopo, one of the funniest was when everyone was hanging out in the Tuolumne rescue site and somehow Dan and Darryll Nakamira(sp) were hanging out sparing with boxing gloves. Bachar shows up and Darryl ropes him into putting on the gloves to go a round or two with Dan. Dan was a GREAT Golden Gloves boxer in his day and John was unaware of this. So they put the gloves on, Dan dances around John a bit, each throwing a novel punch or two. Dan sets Bachar up with a combo and got John to open up, just like Dan wanted, then WHAMMMOO, a clean shot to Bachars noggin and DOWN GOES BACHAR, DOWN GOES BACHAR! Dan had a grin on his face that was to die for, knowing he set John up with a classic set up combo and John walked right into it.
Also got some great stories of Dan teaching me countless problems at Corona Del Mar as I was learning to climb. Patients like you can't believe and humble as they come. He was on of the most genuinely kindest people I've ever met, as well as one of the buffest, chiseled before chiseled was "in". If not for Dan I would have taken a lot longer to climb to the level I did. I will NEVER forget him, we are all at a loss from his passing. Lynnie, you were so lucky to have had him and yo kids had probably the best Dad God could have blessed them with(but yo knew this)!

also, ron: wow, thanks for such a fine story---say, i think i saw this story, or a part of it, in one of the threads...
wow, you all are most kind... very fine guys... the included words, of dan's character are what make them really live on, not only for lynne, but for other climbers...
you are really heroes, to each other, in many ways....
bump for hopefully, a few more....
say, and perhaps someone can find the link, to the thread that noted that dan had passed-on....
that would be very kind, too....

So many family and friends never talk about Dan. Makes mi sad. His name needs to be named and remembered.
So thanks Taco, Ana, Ron G., and Dr. F.....for remembering. LOL, Life was fun bitd and is super today. I count the three of you as great new friends....as well as many others.
jb is best in my book. Gracious dude. Lots of takes on the story. John is cool about all of them. Best Dude. Dan totally respected you...besides your climbing skills Dan respected your great brain. DB didn't say that about many.... Peace, lynne
