Any SuperTopo people ever climb on Oregon's largest Monolith? Somehow I went to school at UO for four years and never climbed here.

Looks good. I mean, it ain't THE Valley, but...looks great for the Willamette Valley.

I did an early ascent of Barad Dur in 78.
It was wonderful. We had the whole thing to ourselves and the climb was awesome.
The worst part was some vertical bushwhacking on the descent, in the dark, sans headlamp. It added to the adventure!!

I'll see if I can get my pard to send me a couple pix that I can post. I can't believe that the thing is so obscure even in Oregon. It's huge, and in a great setting (don't know how much logging has been done up there since then.)
If I get ahold of a couple pix, I'll try to do a write up from the faded depths of my memory.
A monument to Jim Anglin.

Wolf isn't obscure, just black and south-facing so it doesn't get a lot of traffic once the weather in Oregon is actually nice enough for climbing.
Here's a shot of Jim giving me a spot on a new line a couple of days before his accident.

Thanks for the pic Joe.
But yes, it's obscure. At least it was BITD. I've climbed in Oregon off and on for 35 years. For quite a few years I was a real Local/regular. It was rare to meet someone who had actually been there.

Wolf Rock is an impressive formation but with a lot of loose rock. Helmet highly recommended. The sport routes on the left side aren't half bad. They have the added benefit that a roof above that section helps protect the area below from rockfall.
