Anyone have this? I'd like to see the note in the Basecamp section, and any photos, submitted by Joe Nickerson, which according to Marc Jensen's 1988 bay area climbing guide, introduced climbers to Goat Rock, near Jenner, CA. I'd like to establish a starting point for when climbers started visiting this location.

Debbie (my wife) grew up in Santa Rosa and did go out once or twice climbing in the late 60s early 70s. The climbing clique at her high school went to Mt. St. Helena, she says the only time you'd hear someone climbing Goat Rock was when they were plucked off by the Coast Guard...
...presumably not climbers. Her verdict is that it was too chossy.

There's a climbing area called Sunset Boulders in a sheep pasture near Goat Rock.

We used to scramble up a narrow steep trail to the top of Goat Rock in the 60's. We were there to surf at Goat Rock or the River Mouth but on blown-out or crappy days, we'd venture to the top of Goat Rock...great views. I wasn't climbing then but I remember that there was a history of some bad accidents. I also believe there was more than one fatality during the years I lived in Sonoma County ('57-'69). The trail was loose, the rock was loose, and there were some scary sections where falling/slipping was not an option....Sierra 4th class.

Duncans Mills, eh? Interesting. Supposedly the polished surfaces here are from Columbian Mammoth rubbing themselves. Imagine that! Must have been quite a sight.
