I was going home after visiting a friend who is getting shut down with a bad disease
I drove under the tracks that form the main line from Seattle to Chicago. It was a cold night and I saw the gleam of the wheels in the lights and I could feel the sound and the temperature of that train in my jaw
I felt Beat
And I was thinking about how cool was Ginsburg to write what he did in burr hair cut america in the '50's
Or how cool were the Ramones to stand up to it in the Glam Rock '70's.
And so who's next boys and girls?
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by
madness, starving hysterical naked,
dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn
looking for an angry fix,
angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly
connection to the starry dynamo in the machin-
ery of night,
who wandered around and around at midnight in the
railroad yard wondering where to go, and went,
leaving no broken hearts,
who lit cigarettes in boxcars boxcars boxcars racketing
through snow toward lonesome farms in grand-
father night,
A. Ginsberg

Married Blues
I didn’t want it, you wanted it.
Now you’ve got it you don’t like it.
You can’t get out of it now.
Pork and beans, diapers to wash,
Too poor for the movies, too tired to love.
There’s nothing we can do.
Hot stenographers on the subway.
The grocery boy’s got a big one.
We can’t do anything about it.
You’re only young once.
You’ve got to go when your time comes.
That’s how it is. Nobody can change it.
Guys in big cars whistle.
Freight trains moan in the night.
We can’t get away with it.
That’s the way life is.
Everybody’s in the same fix.
It will never be any different.

Ginsberg -- "I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by
madness ...."
He was wrong!
He did not know who were the best minds of his generation ......

I've got a poster of the "Tangiers Poem" in my living room, I love the line, "lonely living blue balloon."
As for what's next, meaning what's going to shake up the creative status quo, I almost think that the next step is going back several steps, refocusing on content rather than author or style.
It should be a very quiet revolution.

Crappy " poetry " by a freaky misfit who had little knowledge of society outside his limited, perverse, little crew.
