Wow... best thing I have done for myself in a long time. I found myself in a strange situation where I was the round peg in a square hole. If the culture at work is not a great fit, get out! Anybody else take the leap.

sure. many times...
good luck, too!
(feels great to exercise that autonomy,
doesn't it?)
how 'bout the ingrained consumerist mentality that
it must be YOUR problem and *gasp* you "Quit a Job!"
yeah, amazing...
give the fukkheads the bird and tell 'em what you think,
if more people did that, labor law and professionalism
would actually mean something...in *THIS* country.

As odd as it sound, I saved money (what a concept) can still pay bills, house, ect. Now I have the time to search for a career and position that I want. Yes it sounds a bit like me, me, me, but in fact it is a team. My wife and I thought about it and it works for the both of us.

It sounds like you make a good decision. Did you give two weeks notice or are you free to come to Yosemite and enjoy the fall? The facelift is happening right now as temps become great for climbing in the valley.

Two weeks, hell I didn't give two minutes. I cleaned up all working projects, left a list of small items that are in the pipeline, called HR and told them the good news. I made it a point not to leave the company or employees in a poor situation. Climbing is out until minor surgery on my wrist....then back to the rock.

I have been working two jobs 6 to 7 days a week all summer. As of yesterday I am unemployed. I'll be in the valley in one week.

The facelift is still worth joining even if you can't climb. Good parties, the weather is perfect and the park is gorgeous right now. Come on up.

John - love your enthusiasm but there is no way in hell I would go to the valley if I was unable to climb . . .
Climb on. Wally

John,
I won't be in the valley for facelift. I should have planned better. I will join my wife in Disney world. She is there for a meeting. The room is paid for, we had enough miles to cover the flight, so why not.
