More sad news. Craig Martinson has ALS and is now living in Phoenix. I only climbed with Craig once. For those who have no idea- Craig was a fabulous climber in the 1970's.
By rights he should have his own thread and I'm sure it will surface. My memory is of a very easy going fun guy to climb with.
He was a plumber in the Minneapolis area- my Mom told me about this great man who was fixing her bathroom. Sure enough it was Craig.
There was a nice article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press about Craig.

This is sad, my Wife and I know Craig pretty well and we have been following his illness for a while. We climbed a bit when I was in Stillwater MN while my wife was finishing school. Drove cross country to the Valley in a giant car of his once.
The nicest guy and yes he was a fabulous climber, one of the most natural I’ve ever seen.

Oh, sh#t, man. Anyway you could e-mail a phone number, Hobo? I'd really like to talk to Craig, though I don't know him.

hey there hobo_dan.. say, i posted this in the other thread when i hear about this.. but it really belong here, too... so here it is:
i am very sorry to hear this awful news that he has ALS... two of my cousins, in ohio, both great gals, and young moms with kids and loving husbands and a full life to still share, HAD this disease... one died after lingering to it, after a few short years... her sister then had it too, but got it in the brain area first, and she died within the year, and never knew what hit her (whereas her sis had it in the muscles first, and she say herself waste aways until she could not talk or eat)...
somehow, it was in there dad's side of the family....
i will earnestly pray for your friend, as so far they say there is no cure, but there are some ways that have made life better for folks... all in the experimental stage...
sadly, no one lives long enough to study this awful attack on the body....
please have some great time with your friend while you can...
anyone that knows him, too... share your wonderful smile with your friend... after awhile, it is too hard for folks to get and enjoy the sunshine, etc---your love and smiles will be the sunshine... please, i hope you get to do so...
god bless...

To anyone who knew my father, I'm very sorry to inform you that on March 5th of 2009 Craig Martinson passed away. Anyone who would like to start an acknowledgement forum, for him, it would be greatly appreciated.
