I've worked in film advertising. I've seen producers take a half-page synopsis and a cheap bit of key-art to the Cannes Film Festival and round up enough international letters of commitment to go to a bank and fund the whole thing. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_art);

Ultimately you need to attract the interest of a producer or executive producer. Once one of those likes you, you could get something done.

I have one producer mildly interested in two of my film ideas but I'm too lazy to draft the treatment.

My nephew has cranked out 4 scripts and sold them all! It helps that his dad was a career TV writer. It also helps that his work is very good.

I know what they want and that is to make money. Your road crew idea might be funny like Reno 911 or something. I think that one made money.

Why do people post 'question for such & such' thread, anyway? Like it's a question intended for one person, and only that person?

If that's the case, why not just email them yourself? Or give 'em a call?

Or, how about titling the thread something like, 'Help me develop an idea I have'?

Apogee, always consistent. I like your style, refreshing and sometimes brilliant.

Its interesting, I agree with most points and Coz's general ideology, but get this feeling he thinks he's god, and actually believes it.

Yer damn right there's a bunch of talented people here...I've found some of the input (some of it) to be invaluable.

However, when I'm looking for perspective from a particular person, I reach out to them specifically. When I'm seeking multiple perspectives, the thread is not specific to any one person.

I dunno...this just seems like such a simple concept. Who could argue it?
