How old and overall yes... I rather he listen to that then some of those vile degrading rap songs. Plus never hurts to go over values and morals. Remember, don't lecture, just ask what they think and why... Then explain your own view point. Not as something they have to do, but why it's worked better for you.

Iron Maiden is some of the best music on the planet. It's not negative in any way, more storytelling & amazing instruments. You & him should go to a show, your minds will be blown in the best way possible. Listen to the lyrics.

I think that GirlTalk should be required listening for all adolescents and their parents. It cuts right to the heart of all todays popular music and mixes in some cool classic guitar rifts.

These guys had Masters Degrees in English and one was also a pro soccer player. The music is pounding but the lyrics are incredible. He could do a helluva lot worse!

I started listening to Iron Maiden when I was in 7th grade and lived in England before their success in the U.S. Your kid has impeccable taste! I am going to put on Number of the Beast in his honor!

It's okay and you can take him up Flash of the Blade (which btw is one of my favorite climbs!) He'll probably think you are the raddest dad!!! :D
Added: Whether it's "ok" or not, you'll have to decide yourself. After all, you're the parent. : ] Me.... I just liked the opportunity and couldn't help mentioning the climb Flash of the Blade. : P
