Some here whom I would like to follow have three letter avatars that can't be searched on.
If you have a three letter avatar, please consider adding an additional letter.

This is a good point jstan! Like, if I wanted to cyberstalk Harrison H on supertopo, even in a good friendly respectful way, it would be close to impossible!

A new trend that I see more and more frequently is that forums are requiring your real first and last name as your avatar or user ID.
I am in favor of this trend. Maybe the taco should require such?

You can make links to their post history. Works better than searching.

Naw. Other forums as well, non-professional, non-governmental.
e.g. Recreation forums, sports forums, history forums, etc.
If I could change my avatar name here on the taco, I would

And that concept will work up until someone gets nailed by a Stalker and their lawyer links the assault to a forum requiring full name disclosure.
Really dude - do you want some of these whackjobs knowing who you really are?

You can search for three-letter author nicknames, if what you want is everything posted by the author. Click the GO button of the search field without putting anything in the search field. This will bring up the Forum Search page shown below. Then type the three-letter author nickname in the provided field and click the Search button.
This search will not turn up posts not made by the author but which contain the author's nickname in the body of the post. However, you can get those too by clicking the Search entire site using Google button. You can also go straight to the Google search (which, however, is not what you usually want) by putting a question-mark after the three-letter name typed into the original search field.

Make that RSQ. Now that you can't find via a forum search.

When I want to read what someone has written, I click on their avatar which takes me to a page where I can click on their forum posts or send them an email?

That works if you have an avatar to click on, but could be a problem if the person in question posts only occasionally or hasn't posted for a long time.

I see. In that case, they probably won't even see this request let alone change things, so the best route might be to ask ST if they can change the protocol?
