Take a few moments to watch this facinating National Geo video about a remarkable new skin regeneration treatment for victims of serious burns.

Yes that's right this isn't a climbing thread. So SHOOT me.
They call it a skin GUN so it isn't too OT for ST.
Science can be SOOOO cool!

hey there say, philo! now see, this is a neat new share from your heart...
seeing things that you appreaciate, as to a whole new realm...

climbers can still appreciate this... we all have family and loved ones, and some have come through hard times and this kind of help would be a blessing, if they had HAD this in the past...

thanks for sharing :)

+1. Awesome find. Hope this becomes a standard issue device in all ICU's.

I bet it works for people who thrash in cracks and chimneys also.
Maybeit will result in a raising of standards?

Come on now, so many of you whine about quality content and value.
Well here is a thread about some absolutely amazing med-tech.

Think how well this could treat serious rope burns.
There is your climbing content.
Where is your interest and quality content?

They used to have this stuff called Second Skin for burns. I don't know why they took it off the market, it worked really well for a rope burn I inherited.

Burn injuries are, IMHO, the absolute worst things to deal with. I had the honor of attending the longest resident who survived a burn unit some years ago. It still makes me cringe.

All severe burns are treated at a burn unit, not in an ICU. And there are few of them. 3-4 in Los Angeles. Incredibly expensive and resource intensive.

Note that this is used only for 2nd degree burns, not 3rd, the worst type.

This gun seems to be a possible step forward, although for what it is, it seems a massive technological overkill....which means expense.

I'll also note that this was first reported in 2008, and have to wonder why it hasn't become mainstream?
