"We want to thank park staff, the Federal Highways Administration, and the contractor T. L. Peterson, Inc., for their tremendous effort to open the road quickly," said Don Neubacher, Yosemite National Park Superintendent. "This will help reduce the economic burden that the closure caused for our gateway communities. The reopening is also good news for community members that regularly travel on the road to other parts of the park."

allowing road crews to work around the clock in order to safely reopen the road to traffic.
.....
The remaining road repairs work will occur over the next few weeks with minimal delays and intermittent single lane traffic control.
It's not completely over till its over......but......
AMAAAAAZING!

Actually, it'll open today!
Yosemite National Park on Facebook:
"You may have already seen our post yesterday announcing that the Big Oak Flat Road will reopen tomorrow morning (4 weeks ahead of schedule). Well today we have even better news: it will now reopen at 2:00pm today!"

Steve thanks a lot for the update about opening today. I was considering holding off driving until tomorrow morning but now I'm headed up tonight to freeze my ass off camping again haha
