Hello All!-
My name is Brad Miller and I am the co-director of a nonprofit fundraising organization called Adventures for Action. AFA uses outdoor adventures to raise awareness and money for awesome charities and projects that combine a blend of environmental awareness and humanitarian aid. AFA does not use any moneys raised to fund expeditions, all donations go to the selected project and all fundraising work is volunteer. Our current adventure is an attempt to climb Denali this coming May and we are using this Adventure to raise money for the installation of a solar array for a non-profit community hospital in Mwanza, Tanzania.
The Adventures for Action mission is to serve the global environment and humanity through the implementation of green building solutions and renewable resource development, primarily to the 2nd and 3rd world. AFA accomplishes this by providing support, both on the ground and fiscally, to projects and partners whom exemplify our “positive environmental stewardship” ethic.
Please head on over to adventuresforaction.org and check us out. There is some great information on our projects and adventures and we are offering free gifts for donors, including incredibly useful paracord survival bracelets.
AFA offers a chance for all of us to take the adventures that we love to participate in and turn them into great fundraising opportunities and we need your help and support. Aside from donations, we would greatly appreciate passing our information along to your friends and "liking" us on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/Adventures.for.Action, both of which are free!
You can contact us at adventuresforaction@gmail.com.
Thanks for looking!

Hey Brad.
Check out Hero Projects. Started by a former UNR grad student name Allan Warren. Maybe some cross-pollination or collab potential.
Good luck.

Snorky, thanks for the link. They have really great idea going on there and those individuals and organizations are definitely the ones that we would like to work with.
Thanks!

Hello All-
I just wanted to let everyone know that we lowered the donation level for the sweet paracord survival bracelets that we give away. You can now receive the custom made bracelet of your choice for a donation of $14 USD. Check them out here:
http://www.adventuresforaction.org/free-gifts/
As usual all proceeds go to the selected charity, in this case the International Health Partners of the United States and Tanzania solar project.
Thanks for looking and happy climbing!
Brad

I appreciate the fact that you specify donations will not go toward expedition costs. I perused your website, and I see a great deal of information about fund raising, about the Denali trip, and about how to donate. What I do not see is much information about exactly what I would be donating to. Under the Actions page I see a bit of info, but no direct link to the organization in Tanzania.
I am left with a few questions. 1: Why would I donate to you, rather than donating directly to the organization that is doing the work in Tanzania? 2: If the Tanzania project is of such great importance, why are you using your money to climb Denali? That same money would go to far, far greater use in Tanzania than in Alaska. 3: Who exactly is going to Denali? Is it just Brad and Clayton? 4: At what point will my money go to fund projects in Tanzania, and what assurances do I have that it will go there at all?

Sorry this took a long time to reply, I was unaware that someone had posted questions, all of which are great!
Q: "Under the Actions page I see a bit of info, but no direct link to the organization in Tanzania."
A: There is a direct link to IHP-TZ on our "partners" page. Their website has tons of info.
Q: "Why would I donate to you, rather than donating directly to the organization that is doing the work in Tanzania?"
A: You actually are donating directly to the IHP-TZ. Out (AFA's) donation page links you to the online donation form for IHP-TZ. AFA does not currently collect or hold donations for our partners.
Q: "If the Tanzania project is of such great importance, why are you using your money to climb Denali? That same money would go to far, far greater use in Tanzania than in Alaska."
A: Because, we want to have fun as well as help a charity! We want to use our outdoor adventures to inspire people to get involved, not give up our adventures all together. Also, our vision is to start an organization that uses adventures to raise money and awareness which will have a much bigger payoff than forfeiting our expedition funds once and calling it quits.
Q: "Who exactly is going to Denali? Is it just Brad and Clayton?"
A: Yes, Clay and I (Brad) are going to Denali as a two man team on the 19th of May (6 days!).
Q: "At what point will my money go to fund projects in Tanzania, and what assurances do I have that it will go there at all?"
A: Immediately. We are raising money for the solar project and so any donations directed through our site designate to that project and will not be used for any other project. If you are interested in donating but want to give to another IHP project (like building a laundry or lab) you can designate a different project. You can rest assured that your money goes to IHP-TZ because you will be donating directly to them, not AFA so AFA will never handle your donation.
Thanks for the questions and interest!
Brad
