It's the way shown in the 1982 topo.
There was a fixed pin in that intermediate crack the first time I did it, in 1985. Now it's some fairly small nuts in the pin scars.
I like to use that anchor, but I don't swing or run - just tension traverse and face climb sideways.

Nice, Jerry.

Where are the one showing the old style King Swing?

You shots are nice in that they tend to be a bit more artistic than Tom's.

Mark,

The El Cap album dated Oct 10 2009 has alot of shots of the King Swing done "old style".

Thanks for the comment but Tom is still "the man". His past climbing experience, his writing skills, his photography skills and his relationship with the climbing community is an unbeatable combination.

I will alway be grateful for his help in getting me started "at the bridge".

I'm certainly not putting your work down, Tom. You guys just have different styles.

I've been waiting for someone to play the "Tom and Jerry" cartoon card.
I'm not surprised that it was "The Lovely and Talented Assistant - Gene".

BTW - I have posted some photos of the California Condors that I recently shot at the Pinnacles if anyone is interested.....
