In this first video officer asshat arrests the paramedics on route to the hospital.
His argument that the didn't yield to an emergency vehicle is absurd. THEY were the emergency vehicle he was just brown shirt power tripping. The ambulance crew maintained decorum while the LEO went on like a drunken longshoreman.

In this second video trooper turdbrain manhandles and tases a 72 year old granny.
His life must have been in danger.

What happened to "protect and serve" When did the common sense rational and polite approach of Andy Taylor get supplanted with the weapons first Barney Fife mentality?

In both of these pathetic cases the LEOs lost control and vastly overreacted.

I for one am sick to death of abuse of power!

Theres a bad nut in very bunch. I think state troopers are generally a very high caliber group and this guy is a aberation. I can't imagine this officer has his job any longer after viewing this, but police unions are very strong and jump to protect even if the officer is way over the line, and THAT is what is wrong with our system.

The first cop is an asshat, I'll give you that.

The second officer didn't do anything wrong, you resist arrest you get tased end of story.

What would you have done in his position? Baton? Pepper spray? twist her wrist till it broke? thrown her on the ground?

hey there, say... i think that it all boils down to the fact some folks should not be law officers...

only time, seems to show, which should not, sadly...

apparently the program they go through, as to reacting in the line of danger ( i may be wrong, as to some of this) is really drilled in, and thus, when a situation is not danger, but appears to be: the first instinct kicks in way too hard...

*plus, depending on the nature of the man, some may have a personl instinc to take anyone down, so they will survive... (though, as a subconcious part of their nature since childhood)---something very hard to to not yeild to, under pressure...

*not meaning that this is acceptable, just kind of shedding some light on to the possibilities...

*course, then, too, there is always a bad temperted power-trip folk in every line of work, too--sadly, folks get hurt here, from here... :(

there have been MANY MANY innocent young men and older, that have taken down and handcuffed, and all due to the fact that they were having a SEIZURE (due to epilepsy) and many of thse innocent folks have ACTUALLY DIED!!!

supposedly officers are supposed to be now being made more awares of these issues... but who knkows... if inner survival fear kicks in (for someone that should not be an officer in the first place)... they will have time to assess this matter of what could be wrong with the young men/woman, etc, in question...

it is very very sad, and seems to keep on coninuing..

same has happened to those have had simple complex seizures and not tonic clonic (grand mal) ones..
they say it takes only a few seconds to study and watch the person, to access them, that it may be an epileptic seizure, but if fear, or power trip kicks in... the innocent one is in the very dangerous situation of getting tasered or forcefully taken, WHICH very often will lead to combative (not by choice) behaviour on the part of the seizure-victim, and thus lead to more awful over powering from officers... and even jail time, and worse, all due to:

a seizure...

"The second officer didn't do anything wrong, you resist arrest you get tased end of story."

Police officers get paid more then many teachers, engineers and some managers. For this reason we should expect them to exercise some amount of judgment in their actions rather then blindly following a prescribed set of rules like a robot or low paid security guard. The Granny was being cited for a simple speeding ticket, not drunk driving or robbing a bank. If the officer was in a position to extend "Professional Courtesy" to another officer for the same type of infraction he could have extended "Elderly Courtesy". Instead of escalating the situation he could have mailed the ticket along with a copy of the tape to Granny and her keepers advising that she needed to work on her demeanor. By zapping Granny he risked having her possibly die or injure her frail bones when she decked out. Now the Mayor, Councilmen and Chief get to go on national TV to defend this highly paid idiot. They might also have to incur the added expense of litigating this case. The entire episode could have been avoided if the officer exercised judgment over a minor infraction.

Yes, these deserves a new thread. Whenever there is abuse of power it needs to be broadcast far and wide.

The question that I would ask is when are we going to insist on mandatory drug testing for LEOs? We make a federal case about pro athletes using steroids but what about cops? Everytime I see these cases of abuse the cops look bloated from steroid use. Like a herd of Lyle Alzedos they appear to be suffering from rage and brain rot.

Are you seriously going to equate hold chippers with tasing 72 year old grannies or impeding an ambulance on route to the hospital? Maybe you should watch the video.
This behavior is unacceptable.

So that justifies a tasing? And possibly a broken hip. If he couldn't handle this better he should not be a cop. Simply say good day and mail her a ticket. The cop escalated the situation. It was shamefull at best. It was also an unnecessary abuse of power. It was a freakin' speeding ticket, a whole 15 mph over the temporary construction limit. Why not a cavity search and a good water boarding while he is at it? I mean she was such an obviously dangerous character I am sure his life was threatened. For a moment imagine that was your mom.

And in the case of the ambulance incident, if the patient had died the cop should be tried for MURDER! Fortunately for the patient that was not the case. But officer asshat should be suspended!

Why didn't the cop just act like a decent human being instead of Rambo gone wild?
Or in the case of the ambulance, why not follow it to the hospital then issue the citation or arrests? The supervisor of the ambulance calmly suggested that and piggly wiggly wanted power.
If approached like that I would be belligerent too.

In the past week a local cop here tased a mentally disturbed 32 year old man who collapsed and died.

There are serious risks to these devices.

Cops need to get ahead of the learning curve on more than that. They also need to start acting as if they are always on camera being recorded, because these days its not far from the truth.

Another cry me a river thread from Philo. I thought you bailed?

There is a simple solution to avoid a tooling: when pulled over by LE, do as they say.

In CA, if you refuse to sign a citation (promise to appear), they have to arrest you and take you to jail. There is no option of mailing anything. When the grandma said she was gonna leave, she brought it on herself.

I've been watching the spray incidents on Operation Repo, and deployed properly it is an impressive tool. Trouble is, now everyone has one.
