Sarah Palin for poet laureate
“And the relevance to me
With that issue,
As we spoke
About Africa and some
Of the countries
There that were
Kind of the people succumbing
To the dictators
And the corruption
Of some collapsed governments
On the
Continent,
The relevance
Was Alaska’s.”

Here are some classic gems from the spoken word of Donald Rumseld:
As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.
—Feb. 12, 2002, Department of Defense news briefing
You know, it's the old glass box at the—
At the gas station,
Where you're using those little things
Trying to pick up the prize,
And you can't find it.
It's—
And it's all these arms are going down in there,
And so you keep dropping it
And picking it up again and moving it,
But—
Some of you are probably too young to remember those—
Those glass boxes,
But—
But they used to have them
At all the gas stations
When I was a kid.
—Dec. 6, 2001, Department of Defense news briefing
Once in a while,
I'm standing here, doing something.
And I think,
"What in the world am I doing here?"
It's a big surprise.
—May 16, 2001, interview with the New York Times
You're going to be told lots of things.
You get told things every day that don't happen.
It doesn't seem to bother people, they don't—
It's printed in the press.
The world thinks all these things happen.
They never happened.
Everyone's so eager to get the story
Before in fact the story's there
That the world is constantly being fed
Things that haven't happened.
All I can tell you is,
It hasn't happened.
It's going to happen.
—Feb. 28, 2003, Department of Defense briefing
Oh my goodness gracious,
What you can buy off the Internet
In terms of overhead photography!
A trained ape can know an awful lot
Of what is going on in this world,
Just by punching on his mouse
For a relatively modest cost!
—June 9, 2001, following European trip
Things will not be necessarily continuous.
The fact that they are something other than perfectly continuous
Ought not to be characterized as a pause.
There will be some things that people will see.
There will be some things that people won't see.
And life goes on.
—Oct. 12, 2001, Department of Defense news briefing
I think what you'll find,
I think what you'll find is,
Whatever it is we do substantively,
There will be near-perfect clarity
As to what it is.
And it will be known,
And it will be known to the Congress,
And it will be known to you,
Probably before we decide it,
But it will be known.

Here are a few from three of the key figures in the new administration. I sincerely hope they can be enjoyed for the dim-witted mistakes they seem to represent.
Joe Biden:
In a debate with John McCain: "Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs."
And who can forget this one: "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened." He was apparently unaware that FDR wasn't president when the stock market crashed in 1929 and that only experimental TV sets were in use at that time.
"Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya." –-Joe Biden said to Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham, who is in a wheelchair, Columbia, Missouri, Sept. 12, 2008
Nancy Pelosi:
"I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels,"
"500 Million Americans Lose Their Job Every Month". As I understand it there are only 350 million people in America...
In an interview on May 29, 2008 with the San Francisco Chronicle, she claimed the U.S. troop surge failed to accomplish its goal. She then partially credited the success of the troop surge to “the goodwill of the Iranians,” claiming that they were responsible for ending violence in the southern city of Basra. I wonder how our troops killed or maimed by Iranian IED's feel about this supposed "goodwill".
President Obama:
In May, 2007 he claimed that tornadoes in Kansas killed a whopping 10,000 people. The quote “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll: 12.
In May, 2008 he redrew the map of the United States: “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”
Also in May, 2008 he showed off his knowledge of the war in Afghanistan by homing in on a lack of translators: “We only have a certain number of them, and if they are all in Iraq, then it’s harder for us to use them in Afghanistan.” Funny but I thought the real reason that it’s “harder for us to use them” in Afghanistan is that Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish and the Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi, or other non-Arabic languages.
The one that bothers me the most was told to a crowd in Portland in May, 2008: Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us” — he went on to argue that “tiny countries” with small defense budgets can’t do us harm — and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, “I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.” Which one should I believe?
Thats all for now, and what are the odds that I will draw fire from the looney left for this post....< Enjoy!

Here's an old one from Jimmy Carter. To his credit I think he has a good heart and has said and done some great things. This one however is simply bizzarre.
" Government is a contrivance of human wisdom to provide for human wants. People have the right to expect that these wants will be provided for by this wisdom. "
So folks have the right to expect that what they want will be provided by government??
Right on Comrade!

Sweet!
Keep 'em coming kids.
IMO, all politicians are arrogant as#@&%es who pander to the press.
I have to admit I thought Carter was a decent human being. How the f*#k did he ever get elected?

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
I always thought that would be good intro for The Who's "won't get fooled again" on the radio.
