I remember smog alerts in Los Angeles when I was in school in the 70's, along with burning lungs. My kids dont know what a smog alert is yet. Is the air cleaner now than it was? Or can you just not see the nasties?

Actually, it is cleaner by many measures, including measurements of air polluition-caused health problems.
Regulation-hating right must like dirty air, since clean air regulations are responsible.

Even driving to JT has gotten better. I remeber driving into or out of a wall of smog right arounf Fontucky or Rancho Cucabama.

Yeah, as seen from the top of Mt. Rubidoux, I vividly remember the moving wall of smaug creeping in from the West. Like the Crawling Eye it was! Tahquitz could be seen to the east, but once the Wall wrapped around Rubberducks you couldn't even see the Santa Ana riverbed at the base of the mountain!
Things are MUCH better now!

Great...one of the main reasons I moved out of the Central Valley was the smog in the early 90's...now houses are too expensive to move back, even with the 28% decrease in prices.
Glad it's better for you folks though, group HUG everybody?

Yes better, but not great. San Bernardino is still home to some family, and in the 20 years since I moved away, it is way better, but still much worse than any other place I've visited it from, with the exception of Fairbanks' ice fog.

If you can't see it, it can't hurt you, right?
