I read in the facelift thread where Ken was giving directions on how to get to Yellow Pines,,"remove or go around the construction barriers"

Is southside drive closed from the El Cap return road?

Whats the current situation with the construction?

Any info would be appreciated.

I think Ken stated it in another post, basically, for the purpose of commuting in and out of the Valley, Southside Dr is closed past the El Cap Meadows turn off, which is one way from Southside Dr. to Northside Dr. which is two way from there to the Village.

That means you cannot drive the El Cap Meadows turn out from Northside Dr. to Southside Dr, instead you have to drive Northside to Pohono bridge and come back, a bit of a drive...

This is the way it was last Sunday, lots of cones and signs...
...if you're coming to the Facelift be prepared to bike or walk (actually pretty glorious to have to walk around in the Valley)...

So, is the bridge where El Cap Pic's hangs out the only way up into the vally now? It is usally fairly quite there.

I have friends going there this week and told them to check out sentinal beach and the bridge.

Oop's!

Ken posted info here

Sounds like they might be able to get to Sentinel Bridge from the Village...

Here is some news, though no surprise. They are doing road construction on Southside Drive from Yellow Pines to Sentinel Bridge and that section will be closed.

This means you can drive the first section of Southside Drive with the other traffic. When the other traffic crosses over to Northside Drive at El Cap crossover you can continue on Southside Drive to Yellow Pines. To get out you drive back to El Cap crossover rejoining regular traffic. The biggest inconvenience will be returning after driving to the Village. To get back you will have to drive back to Pohono Bridge to get back on Southside Drive. A good reason to bring a bike and headlamp. Might even be quicker to walk.
