I'm wondering if anyone would consider loaning me a tuning fork and possibly a hand drill to replace the bolts on the Alien finish to the Rostrum. The two bolts are crap, with the first being the worst.

I really have no desire to start doing new routes again, so I don't want to buy a drill. However, I would happily provide an SDS bit and the bolts/hangers if someone would be kind enough to help out with a tuning fork and a petzl bit holder. I still have a hammer and everything else I'd need.

I was hoping to replace these on the weekend of 9/20/08.

Thanks,

Blaine

Hey, get a hold of Greg Barnes, he's got all that stuff and is usually around this time of year...

Hey Nature,

Sorry for not replying right away, but I had hoped to hear from Greg Barnes. Emailed him as suggested above, but no luck.

I'm still planning on doing the replacement on Sat 9/20, so I decided to go ahead and invest in the necessary equipment and have already made my own tuning forks.

Thanks alot for your offer. If it's your kind of thing, I'd be happy to trade belays when the work is done.

Thanks again,
Blaine

Hey Blaine, just back to a computer for the first time in a month, I sent you an email with my cell phone number.

I can loan you everything, but I'll be up in Tuolumne. I might be able to find someone heading down to the Valley.

The tuning forks are for 1/4" only, are those bolts on Alien actually 1/4"? Yikes! If they are old rusty 5/16" or 3/8" then the tuning forks are not useful, but I have a prototype tuning fork for larger bolts that Theron made, and you can borrow that.
