Wondering if anyone might recommend a good, rather easy, one day backcountry ski near Bishop. I'm just learning the telemark turn. Would like something I can do in a day without too much off-snow hiking. Something to ski up (I have skins) and ski down and get a beer. Is this too much to ask at this point in the season?
Thanks for any advice in advance.

Thanks Blinny. Sound advice, and which I just did yesterday. Nice skiing up there right now. Even the "govenator" was skiing the corn.
Now I just want to put on some skins and go up (and down) something.

I recommend skiing the Glass creek drainage behind June Mtn. Scenic, and an easy ski. Get a few runs down False White peak while your at it.

Thanks all for the helpful, thoughtful advice. Now I have a lot of good places to point my skis.
