Just ended here in the mideast, I think that means you west coasters will get it in the next hour or two. Only reinforced what we already know, corporate media totally misrepresented the guy and tried to take Obama down with. God Damn America!

For any man of God to use the words 'God damn' is blasphemy!

Read the ten commandments.

I'm not really into getting into Wright politics, but if you watch the Moyer piece he talks about it. "Damn" means "condemn" (ie. God should condemn the US for its sins), And the ten commandments say "thou shall not kill" amongst other things.

Yea, he's an angry black man - and if we are willing to look honestly at US history (rather than the American self glorifying myth) some people have a good reason to be angry.

But I'll admit, from the point of view of the political situation in the current election it was an unfortunate choice of words. Moyer seems to be giving Wright a chance to clear his name and explain himself more fully, which I think he does quite well.

Clear his name?

Dude, did you listen to what he said?

He is giving him an excuse, not a way to clear his name. The KKK should be given a forum to "clear their name" too I suppose.

The guy is a bigot. Just because he's black doesn't give him a right to say hateful things. He should know better BECAUSE he's black.

Do not use the name of God in vain.

Just saw that Rev. Wright will either be on Glenn Beck or Beck is doing a special on Wright Mon. night 7pm Eastern. It will be interesting to see his angle on interviewing Wright. I honestly haven't read or seen Beck comment on Wright when this story broke, but I'm assuming Beck did what most corporate media did by just showing Wright's soundbites, which by themselves appear hateful and bigoted, but when you hear his entire sermons, he makes valid points, or at least ones that should be discussed in our media and among our leaders. Especially the "chickens have come home to roost" sermon was actually him elaborating on one of our US ambassodor's (Peck ?) assessment of 9/11 being "blowback" for years of failed US foreign policy in the mideast.

Personally, I find Wright's logic for terrorist's acts against the US more logical than Robertson's and Falwell's blaming 9/11 on God's wrath on our stance on abortion and gay marriage. Amazing. If I had to choose to go to either a Falwell/Robertson sermon or a Wright sermon, I'd pick the latter since it would at least challenge me spiritually and politically.

God created the laws of life. One of which is "you reap what you sow". Rev Wright's message was that America will reap what is sows. If we are greedy, the world will be greedy with us. If we are cruel, then the world will give us back cruelty. It is the law of Karma, and it IS inevitable.

This is what he meant when he said God damn america. God will damn america unless she repents from her ways of using others for her own good. Eventually we will fail if we continue this path.

Don't be ignorant of America's greed. Don't look at a few programs to feed the poor and think that this absolves us from our greed and our cruelty. It doesn't. Anymore then then some gang banger would be absolved from killing someone by treating someone else nice. We reap what we sow. Combine that with everything is consciousness and everything is made out of the one, and you will see that we do reap what we sow.

Figure that one out Blue.
