"What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?"

Id think you were smart enough to realize that their parents are the cause. When will the adults realize they f*#ked up.

The funny thing is that every generation says the same thing. Though I have met some great kids from the generations after mine, in general I would say that behaviors are a lot more obnoxious than when I was a kid(cel phone screamers, white suburban kids acting ghetto).
Either it's the same thing for every generation, just with different details....or people used to be reeeeally polite way back on the day!

Whether you agree with the new ethics or not, everyone here needs to face the facts:
In 20-25 years most of the people on this board will either be dead or too old and feeble to type messages let alone go climbing.
I say bring on the future and sit back and enjoy the ride.

I was a teenage high-school student in the early days of the US war in Vietnam. At that time, every second newspaper headline was about either the serious problems in Vietnam or the serious problems with "today's teenagers."
One day one of my high school teachers showed us a news story about the demolition of a building in the US. It had been built in the early part of the twentieth century, and mementos of the day had been encased in the hollow cornerstone. One of the mementos was a newspaper in which the two lead stories were about the troubles in Vietnam and the problems with "today's teenagers."
The Vietnam part is neither here nor there, but complaining about the generations that came after yours has been a part of human life since there was human life.

Considering that within a generation after Plato, Philip of Macedon overran all of Greece, maybe Plato was on to something!
