Straight up, let me say I am sure we were off route when we did this approach. Next time around it seemed a tad more obvious and direct. Nevertheless, what are we approaching?

Tarbuster... that wasn't so much a guess as a hug of all Valley apporach routes!

I'll give it to Crimpergirl. Not only does she have the formation correct, but she even named the route we were on our way to! Strange, I don't remember seeing her on the way...

If you would like a postcard, drop me a toprope. (Ha-ha! Get it, drop me a line... oh well, I thought it was funny.)

Is it possibly to actually find the approach to the Chouinard Herbert? I believe we used ropes for 2 1/2 pitch before we found the route... We probably started to look after the route to early and climb a slab with a bolt I believe and later found a right traverse that ended widway the first pitch if I remember correctly.

Thank you. Thank you very much. :)

I have to give the award to the true winner - Dave. He named it instantly sitting here and I posted. He's done the C-H route twice and the terrain was very familiar as he thrashed around the base.

We missed the start of the route entiely and went up the flared chimneys on the left side of Chessman Pinnacle.

'Been up Steck Salathe twice.
These lil' contests are cool:
Maybe in the future, the winners can compare and trade the winnings like baseball cards!
