Cult classic or just not that mainstream?

Princess Mononoke, a great film from Miyazaki.

The Matrix (but none of the others in the series) - Keanu, like Arnold, needs to pick his roles where he doesn't have to speak much.

Bubba Hotep should be on any list of great cult films.

Putting an elderly Elvis Presley (the real one, not the fake one that died) and an old black man who believes he's John F Kennedy together in a nursing home which comes under attack by zombie-mummies is pure genius, right? Really. How can that not be a recipe for greatness?

although this list could easily start and stop with Repoman, consider the following

Monster in a Box
Liquid Sky
The Brother from another Planet
A Brief History of Time
The Mountain
Earth Girls are Easy
Eraserhead
Coolworld
Comicbook Confidential

All the rest are great, but have to throw in some variations:

Abominable Dr Phibes: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066740/ (my favorite was unicorn statue through the chest)
Three Amigos: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092086/ ("let's just assume this is the singing bush")
Dune: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087182/ (but book was better)
Silverado: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090022/
A Fish Called Wanda: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095159/ ("Don't Call Me Stupid!)
Forbidden Planet: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049223/ (amazing soundtrack)
Hardware Wars: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077658/ (gotta love Ham Salad, Augie Ben Doggie)
Gleaming the Cube: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097438/ (crap movie, but sweet skateboarding)
Cliff-Hanger: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106582/ (can you imagine the standards of route-setting on lead with these bolt guns?)
The Eiger Sanction: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072926/ alternately cheesy, cool, and classic
