Cause they're hippies and anything with 'grass' in it is good.

not all of them, but many. I mentioned Blue Turtle Seduction to a mountain hippy and he was instantly pissed. no joke. Still not sure why.

I don’t think the majority of them actually like the music. But, if they want to fit in with the hippie crowd, they need to go with the flow. They see all the other hippies jamming out to bluegrass, so they do it too.
Herd mentality. They are just looking for acceptance, trying to fit in with a certain group.

They just follow the crowd, since they lack the ability to think about what they are doing. A good comparison would be A. Crowley pretending to be a liberal. The guy isn’t really smart enough to understand what he is saying. He just spouts out liberal ideals he heard on the TV. He’s just following the crowd, looking for acceptance. In his eyes, the liberals are “cool”, so he follows them around like a little puppy, wishing he could be a big dog.

People become hippies because they want to be “different” and “weird”. They want to “question the status quo” or “go against the grain”. But the fact is, most of them are actually doing the opposite. They are just following trends, questioning nothing, and end up being exactly like the people they are going against.
Kinda like Crowley, again. Damn, that guy is everywhere!

Maybe because bluegrass is unplugged, can be played with a variety of instrumental combinations, gives all participants full opportunity to be featured, involves wicked improvisational moments and skills, is "earthy," and is frankly the most bitchin' music out there.

poor andy
people dont become hippies...hippy is a name youve prescribed for people who lead an existence which for whatever reason makes you uncomfortable. People are people. Your labels and generalizations reflect more on you than those whom you pigeonhole.
Ouch!

True bluegrass musicians are masters and should be revered as such. The hippies should be rounded up, taken far away on a plane and lit up as they step off the plane onto the tarmack.

My pleasure nita. Those guys knock my socks off.

Perhaps a suggestion or two from others? I'm always looking for new bluegrass...does that make me a 'mountain hippy?'

Because bluegrass is fun!
Fun to drink to, fun to dance to, fun to listen to, etc.
I haven't bought any bluegrass CDs, though - it's mostly just fun live.

Blue Turtle Seduction isn't good, though.
They are all awesome guys, for sure, and hugely talented musicians - fun to hang out with, and fun to party with, but they need some work musically - as a group.

It's like watching a team of all-stars, they don't really blend well at all. They'd be better off if they broke up into two or three smaller bands, IMO. It's like they're all competing for your attention; listen to me! listen to me!
(Kind of like some folks on this forum...)
It's so bad that you're not sure if they're all even playing the same song sometimes.

Stayed at their house for a while in Tahoe and went to a few of their shows. The girls sure do love them!

But they'll get to where they need to be, if someone's honest with them about their sound.
