Good work Chris, I actually have not noticed much offensive content so I didn't fully understand your recent video. But I only click on threads that have climbing related names. Aside from occasional trolls these seem to be very good in terms of content.

I actually began reading and posting to ST because of the much negative banter on summitpost. Plus that climbers seem to be rare on summitpost. Harder stuff; more dedicated climbers, more inspirational stories and good historical TRs are here on ST, and that's why I come here. I receive good feedback, most of it positive, and good questions on my own posts. I think the community--at least in terms of the community who comments and/ or emails me about climbing posts is strong.

I'm sure this has been mentioned but instead of censoring content can't you just minimize irrelevant content by relegating it to a separate area? Or alternatively emphasizing climbing content by putting it higher instead of making all posts equal?

I do notice a huge number of threads I have no interest in clicking or reading, which is a small problem because it takes a little time to sift through. I assume these are also the offensive threads? Is there a way to more prominently display climbing related threads and/ or the top 10 lists while relegating non climbing related threads to the bottom or through a separate link? That way non-climbing content would still be uncensored but would not be as prominent? For example, an expansion of the recent TR, beta and reviews sections and/or maybe move them up above general forum posts? OR, make the standard to bump up a non-climbing post harder (e.g. 5 new comments needed to bump a non-climbing post while only 1 for a climbing post)

In any case, there is tons of good content here so great efforts in trying to make it more visible.

statistical summaries be damned,

this forum reflects a continuum of emotional flow
as dictated by the participants.

next week will show a different conclusion,
because conclusions are really just hiccups
in the stomach of change.

let the forum digest itself,
flattulations and all.

I think Chris's post reinforces and supports the on-topic content of the forum and is therefore a very helpful contribution.

Thanks for taking the time

Peace

This is fun.

Enjoy your success.

Thanks to heavy handed policing, SummitPost.com is down to just a handful of posts a day in their forum.

On the other hand, everyone is on-topic and watches their Ps & Qs. Plus the server is not filling up with useless data.
