How about a "views" column incorporated into the site?

We have thought about a views column but have leaned toward keeping the look cleaner (having less of a column). We do have views on the trip reports and articles. Maybe we can eventually add the views into the page itself

No one seems to use the photo rating system, maybe they would if you put some kind of a top ten list for photos as well.

I've noticed the better search engine features. Thank you!

I tried at first, but now don't use the photo upload feature in TRs because it's double work for me. I always reference pics via URL to non-supertopo repositories (presently Picasaweb), except for one pic just to get the thumbnail for the TR list view.

I do worry that the archival aspect is messed up when my links go dead at some point (e.g. when Google kills off picasaweb and turns it into some Google+ incarnation). But I can't be hassled to do the uploads to supertopo.

So here's my suggestion: let people upload TRs with embedded links to pictures, then have a button that says "import pics locally - I certify I have copyright to all picture links referenced herein." Then I could just do trip reports in an easy/fast way (so I actually do them), and then your website magic downloads the pics from the links and modifies the submitted text to reference the now local copies of the pics now hosted on your site.

Bump bump bump!

Finally, something that reflects my values!

But really a question that I should put in the appropriate thread: is Jason Kruk of bolt chopping fame the same corrageous Jason in the unfortunate footage of the offwidth climb at Squamish? I proxy my vote on the former to Donini.

I object to Jason Kruk Shitting his pants - the thread is poor form and it's last years news anyways.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll add photos to next weeks edition. DMT, great line.

QITNL i hear you loud n' clear. It is always the tough balance between letting things be open and uncensored vs. creating a place for negative rants to push out all the good stuff. I appreciate the reminder that we can't just let EVERYTHING fly here at the risk of turning off the people who come here to contribute, become inspired, and share awesome climbing/life adventures.

I am going to put the suggestions in our "improve ST" folder which we go through a few times a year and figure out what changes will make this a better virtual camp fire. Thanks again for the ideas.
