My Bro is real into climbing....and I am thinking about getting him some gear or a gift card for christmas...I hear this is a good place for "in the know" climbers, so could someone help me out with some ideas? He is at a pretty good level from what I can tell.

Any help is much appreciated!

Locker kept suggesting something on his posts, so I got one for my Bro, he likes to climb too. He loved it!

Get a gift certificate to the gear shop. Let him decide. Climbing gear is generally NOT returnable, so if you get him this or that, it may be he really needs these or those, or just bought himself this and that!

You can always buy a smaller climb-related gift and include the certificate inside the box, and that makes for a more festive "opening of the gift" ritual.

Samm gifts - the climbing shop can help you out, but maybe...
a thermal drink mug(gift certificate could get rolled up inside, and you could laugh inside as your brother politely thanks you for such the personal gift...hahaha)
 some carabiners
item of clothing from gear shop, which would be exchangable of not quite what is needed

Go with the gift card. Without knowing specifically what kind of climbing he is into or what he has, there is no way to pick out the right gift. If he is at a "high level" he probably already has everything he needs/wants. A gear card would allow him to purchase a new rope that fits his individual needs (do not just go buy a random rope for him) or replace some worn slings or maybe a new specialized harness.

I'd recommend a gift card to one of the major online retailers such as gearexpress, moosejaw, backcountry, etc.

If there is an independant shop in Bro's area, go with that.
