Excerpt from owner information -- "I have gotten it up to 60 mph on the freeway. Distance of about 25 miles if you stay off the freeway."
Huh? so you only get 25 mile range at 60 mph?
What is the actual range of this thing?
Converting a small daily driver vehicle would be a much better option than this heavy beast.

maybe when batteries get better I'll think about that sort of power plant for my Westie...
....or fuel cells, hydrogen?
or if biodiesel works out I don't have to worry.
got to start planning for the next power plant transfer 10 years from now.

it's not the weight, it's the aerodynamic drag at speeds greater than 20 to 30 mph.

Good point Ed
One point. I've now worked with our EV vehicle here for about 3 years now and am now familiar with problems that you will encounter with them.
The biggest is the batteries and they are expensive and susceptible to temperature extremes and charging algorithms.
Other problems are the control modules.
There's tons of subtle things that prop up that are completely different from gas driven vehicles.

How about a miniature personal boiling water reactor. Maybe the Iranians are working on that (snicker).....
I don't get why someone would do this to a Westy if they couldn't have at least a 500 mile range. Maybe I'm just weird.

yeah, it seems this person dumped a lot of money into the wrong car. I used to own a camper bus (lived in it for a while) and the best thing about it was going camping! Tough to do with a 25 mile range, though. Perhaps if this van would be someone's permanent home- and you could plug into the grid at a friend's house every couple of days... but for 12 grand I could buy a good used motorhome twice the size that would actually be able to get to the mountains...
One of my neighbors many years ago had coverted an late 60' bug to an all-electric towner car. It was perfect for Santa Cruz due to the distances involved.

Just carry around one of these:
That way you can charge-up wherever you are.
